4th of July

Today was a relaxing day for our family. We slept in and laid around the house until time to go to Tommy's. We got there at 4:30 and grilled ribs and hamburgers. We just hung out. At the last minute we decided to watch Thunder on the Mountain so off we went... we made it to the 'church on the hill' just in time to watch the fireworks.

Well to some folks this is just another holiday to get drunk and shoot fireworks... but to others its a day to be proud of our freedom and honor those who fight for it. I've always been sentimental when it comes to our troops and those tearful songs like 'Proud to be an American' ... this year it seemed to hit a little closer to home b/c my wonderful brother in law, Michael, has joined the military. I guess I really started realizing how blessed we are after 9/11. My eyes have been opened and i'm amazed at all the horrible things that have gone on and still go on in other no so blessed parts of the world. Tonight (or whenever you read this) say a prayer for the men and women and their families they left behind. And for the families that have lost loved ones in combat.
