Dorothy (my mom's boss) and I left early Friday. We stopped in Mobile to do a closing.
My parents and hubby left around 5pm. We walked around and made friends while waiting on them to arrive.
This is the famous Beau Rivage... my grandparents stayed here. It was nice but really crowded.
We ate at the waffle house b/c we didn't want to pay for a buffet.
Little did I know at that time that all you had to do was ask for a free buffet and they'd give it to ya!
Or atleast they gave em to me the rest of the time we were there!
I'll share a few stories with ya....
While Dorothy and I waited for everyone else to arrive we walked around and watched people play cards.
I really really really liked Black Jack so we watched some guys play.
They were young and super friendly. Before long I was playing with this guy. He'd ask me what to do! It was funny but he was wasted! He had SEVERAL 'black' chips = $100 chips!
Every time he'd have to go to the bathroom he'd tell me to sit and play for him!
Its not so bad losing when its not your money!!! LOL
We probably sat there for a few hours until Matthew and them arrived.
THEN... I wanted to watch my mom play 3 card poker. I was trying to soak up as much as I could.
There was a bigger fella at her table that was older. He had a THICK cajun accent. He was smoking cigars like crazy... I hate smoke! He was borderline obnoxious.
In fact I had just made up my mind that I was going to bed b/c I didn't want to be around him any longer when he called me over there! He said "Hey Beautiful! Come over and here and play with me! I give you $100 dollars and we split whatcha win 50/50." At that point I could look pass everything that was annoying. I sat there and played with that man's money for HOURS!
Everyone actually left me at the card table with him. I finally hit broke at 3am! But it was sooo fun... I mean it wasn't MY money that I was losing! But I did get up a good bit and when I look back I should have definitely walked away but hey! I knew I wasn't going to every get that chance again! The old guy - whip was his name or at least thats what he told me - in the end he wasn't really that bad. Extremely nice actually... just loud. He told me that he'd already lost $12,500 that day. Now that was SAD!
We had a blast. The whole weekend was wonderful. We relaxed and just spent a lot of time together. We needed it and I'm glad my parents were able to get us the rooms. Did I mention EVERYTHING was FREE!?!
We missed our kids! We're extremely grateful to Matthew's parents for taking care of them!
