My Weekend

My weekend has been pretty relaxing. Friday afternoon I dropped Jessica off at the Fine Arts competition at Kingwood. My dad was doing sound and she sate with him. I ran into a Old MC boyfriend who didn't even speak... some people are so immature. Friday night Matt and I (and Darcy) went to the store and bought groceries for the next week. I planned out my meals all the way through next weekend. Afterwards we came home and put the pizza in the oven. I went and picked up Jessica from the church and ran into Amy Grimes Repass... we chatted for a few. We came home and chowed down on pizza while watching TV.
Saturday morning was Jessica's first soccer game and boy was it cold outside. She's never played any sports before and so far she really likes soccer. She's pretty good too! She scored a point! They won! After that Matt, myself and Darcy came home to eat some lunch before heading to Zac's baseball game at 2:45. Jessica went with my sister to play with Zac. Matt's grandfather had called him Saturday night to ask him if'd he like to earn some $$$ by changing out some light fixtures at the gas station (not changing bulbs... but the whole fixture). Matt and his dad went to do that while Darcy and I took a nap. He came home about 3... just in time for us to get to the park to watch the game. I asked him before we left if it had warmed up and he said yes... i shouldn't have listened to him... i left the house with a short sleeve shirt on... no blanket for Darcy (i thought she had one in the car). We got to the ball park and the wind was so cold! We ended up snuggling under a huge beach blanket I had stuck in the explorer for the soccer game.
Saturday night Jessica spent the night with my folks. I cooked supper and afterwards Matt and I played pac man on my playstation. We stayed up late (well late for us anyways). It was funny watching matthew get all stressed out over the game. He said he never liked games when he was younger b/c they made him mad. We got up this morning and got ready for church. My parents brought Jessica home and off we went to church. Matt and I have decided that we weren't missing church anymore on Sundays. That Jessica could only spend the night away if she'd be home in time for church. We don't want to teach our kids that if something better comes along then we can skip church. Hopefully we can hold to that... some mornings its so hard to get up and get everyone ready in time.
Church was good. Praise and Worship was good. They're making some changes and I like them. The sermon was on Unity... in the church, at home and everywhere you go. I am happy to say that Matt and I live in unity. We talked about it on the way home. No we don't always agree but we pick our battles carefully. We have very few battles :) I love my husband and my wonderful girls. I'm glad to be in a church were I feel like I can be myself and no one cares. I'm glad that we don't argue over silly things like the color of the carpet. Our church is great and I'm glad we found it.
When we got home from church we had manwich and mac n cheese... yummy! I'm eating all i can b/c I know my book will be here soon... the diet center cookbook! After lunch Jessica and I played pac man. It makes you feel big when you kids think you're cool b/c you can beat the level. hahaha!!! Now Jessica is playing with Darcy and Matt's doing his homework. The house is quite except with the little clicks of me typing on my blog. Giving you all the little details of my weekend. Thanks for reading. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER!

If you have money issues - who doesn't?! - then I suggest Dave Ramsey! Matthew and I have struggled with money since we've been married... after losing my job we're really struggling. But now we have a plan! A friend of Matt's burned the Dave Ramsey Audio for us. We've been listening to it together in the car or while in bed. It has really opened our eyes to some things we've been doing wrong. The first 2 cd's talks teaches us myths and facts about commom money problems. The 3rd one (the one we are now on) gives you step by step instructions on what to do. We really needed this! Dave's motto is "Live like no one else today so that later you can live like no one else!" I'll keep you posted as we clean up our debt. First he tells you to make a budget EACH MONTH! and stick to it. Then he says if your average income is $40,000 than you need to have a emergency fund of $1,000. If its less then your should be $500. The emergency fund is ONLY for emergencies... not vacations, shopping sprees, christmas or any other holidays... its for things like if your transmission goes out or those types of emergency. He says to go in order of the steps. The next thing he says is to write down you debts in least to greatest not including your house. Then pay the minimum on the larger debts but find a way to pay more on the smallest debt till its paid off and then move to the next one.. he calls this the snowball effect.

He also says that in you cannot pay off your cars in 18 months you don't need em! So yes, we are selling our vehicles... mine first b/c its the most expensive. He also suggest that in order to get your $1,000 fast that you have a garage sell and sell everything you don't need. Well, we're going to have one real soon! Matt's is selling his huge weight bench and some older instruments. I'm selling my precious vanity in my room, the buffet stand in my kitchen, probably my coffee table, a foosball table, trampoline and lots of other smaller things. So if you're interested make an offer!

If you would like a copy of his cd... let me know and I'll burn it for you!

I cleaned my room!

Yep, I cleaned it yesterday... jessica helped me when she got home from school. Actually she sat on the bed... her job was not to let me sit down or talk on the phone :) Matt got home around 7:30 and we finished up by making the bed... clean sheets!

Today the lady from the insurance place is coming by to do our bloodwork and junk. I guess that will motivate me to get the rest of the house in order.

Jessica is still terrified from the movie she watched last thursday. She came in our room in the middle of the night. I let her stay b/c i felt sorry for her. Sometime after that I heard her whimpering... she was having bad dreams. Poor kid. So if you would all continue to pray... i'd appreciate it. I wasn't able to sleep much b/c i was in the middle.

another thing... pray for me... I'm going to send Jessup an email and I'm not trying to stir up anything. I'm just at the end of the rope with him. Over the weekend Jessica got a little homesick and asked to call me. He said no. He told her that there were people there she could talk to if she needed too... that she didn't need to run and call her mommy everytime. Well, needless to say this is not going to work. If jessica needs to call her mommy... he'd better let her. I'll let you know his response.

Thursday the 29th of this month Celebrate Recovery is having its 2 year anniversary.... so if any of you would like to come its open to the public. Its going to be outside (as far as I know). We're going to have praise and worship (with michael and anna - great kids), food and fellowship. I think Lisa has even scheduled a few short testimonies. We're inviting everyone to be a part... some people have asked what its all about... well come and find out.

My BEAUTIFUL Babies!!!  Posted by Hello

Darcy in her cute little sundress. Posted by Hello

bored

It's Sunday morning and I skipped church. Matt's working and Jessica is at her dads. I didn't want to go by myself. I have to go to a lingerie shower today at 2pm for my cousin. I don't really want to go but I guess i'd better since she came to mine.

We had one another group last night... it was fun. The theme was home cooking. Aimee made fried chicken and mac n cheese (homemade). I made a chicken cassarole. Cori made green beans and corn. Angela brought rolls and dessert. I don't think angela cooks ;) We were all stuffed! Next time we're going to do a breakfast theme. Got any ideas?

I wish my hubby was home! He's been working a lot lately. He needs to rest.

Oh!!! We are listening to the Dave Ramsey New money makeover series... its pretty good. Maybe we'll figure out how to manage our money better. We've already decided that Matt does the grocery shopping b/c I go and buy everything! He only buys what is on the list. We've also decided that neither of us should carry our debit cards (or credit cards) on us. Instead we will carry cash... but not alot. See we're going to take out an allowance. And not carry the whole allowance with us but keep it at home. So if we got out to dinner we'll decided we can only spend $30 so we only carry $30! But of course we both will carry an emergency $20 but its only to be used for an emergency. Hopefully this new idea will work... it will at least let us see how much money is passing through our hands. And we are not allowed to go to Walmart alone... most of the restrictions are for me (that I set for myself - its good to know your limits). I'll let you know how it works.

Mexican Soup

I'm cooking a chicken dish for the One Another group tonight. I'm going to try and get by the store tomorrow to make Crystal and Daniel mexican soup. We had it at matt's b'day party and everyone loved it. So I thought I would share it with you all.

2 cans of Black Beans
2 cans of Kidney Beans
2 cans of Pinto Beans
2 cans of shoe peg corn (these usually only come in small cans)
1 can of Tomato Sauce
1 can of Mild Rotel
1 can of Stewed Tomato's
1 pack of Taco Seasoning
1 pack of Ranch dip (hidden valley - its by the dressings)
2 lbs of Ground Chuck

Add some water

Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese and corn chips or cornbread

Its really good!!!! Let me know what you think.

UPDATE

Okay... so I've calmed down a good bit since my last post... and thank you for your understanding and comments. To add to the story... the movie seems to have a christian message however i do not think those were their intentions when watching. I know that Jessica did not understand the difference between this movie and any other horror movie b/c she's not watched any other ones. ( i hope i making sense) If those parents let them watch it I would have hoped that they would have explained the spiritual part of it. But knowing this lady and her husband i doubt that they even knew it was a spiritual movie. Matthew and I are considering watching the movie with Jessica to explain it. I'll let you know what we decide.

On to the next frustrating part of that night!!! This girl has a brother who's 8 (remind you Jessica is 9). Well the brother also had a friend over and the four of them stayed up together all night unattended... they all slept in the same bed! I know that some of you might be thinking... well they're just kids and it was innocent... okay... maybe... but I do know that I played boyfriend & girlfriend with other little boys when I was younger and who knows! Not to mention... if they allow this to happen at this age what will they allow as the kids get older... that would be way too easy for young teens!

Okay... so i'm going to calm down again. Thanks again for you understanding with all this crazy stuff. And thanks for your prayers.

A mother's duty

is to watch over, protect, guide, pray over and much much more with our children. Today the devil tried to step in and I am NOT having it! To some of you this may sound silly but for me its serious b/c its my daughter. Jessica is 9 and will be 10 in July. Matthew and I have always tried to watch all movies before Jessica sees them. There are some disney programs I do not allow her to watch b/c of the content. I do not allow her to listen to music unless i have screened it first. What I'm trying to say is I do not want my children exposed to some things.

Jessica has a friend that I do not care for nor do I care for her mother. my reasons are b/c in the past her mother has not brought her home when I've asked and instead i've felt underminded. I really thought those were the my issues with this lady. Apparently not. Last night the girl called and begged that I let Jessica spend the night... against my better judgment (and yes in my gut i knew not to let her go) I let her go. The girls mother was to bring Jessica home this morning at 10am b/c we have plans today. At 9:45 the phone rings... Jessica is on the other end telling me it will be 11:30 before she will be home - NOT ACCEPTABLE! I tell Jessica to get her stuff ready adn I will be there soon... they just live a few blocks away. I called Heather (michael's wife) to come and sit with Darcy b/c she was still asleep. Once we are back at home Jessica takes a shower while Heather and I sit on the couch and talk. All of the sudden Jessica starts screaming... I panicked... she's yelling for me to come quick... i'm thinking she's hurt herself... its a scary feeling. So I make it to her bathroom and she's standing there crying and shaking. She grabs me and starts crying even harder... I ask her what's wrong and she says she watched Hangmans' Curse last night and it was scary. Of course I'm furious b/c someone else has allowed my child to be exposed to God only knows what! My first reaction was to call this lady and tell her off. But after some thought and advice from a wise women (cori your mom is awesome) I decided not to call her. Mrs. Beth said she knew this girls mom and she was not all together... that she might blow up on me (which would not be in her best interest) or laugh at me. I knew that if either of the 2 happened then I wouldn't be able to control my anger. so instead the next time she ask jessica to spend the night... I will say No! The last time my daughter spent the night there she was a horror movie and I do not allow my children to be exposed to such things!

I looked up the movie on plugged in http://pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0001484.cfm)
Its a frank peretti movie but still it exposed my child to things that at this age I do not think she's ready for and I'm very upset.

Jessica is scared to death and doesn't want to be left alone in a room. I've had to sit her down and explain things to her that I never thought I would have to explain this early. I had to tell her that there were going to be people in her life that would be doing something she knew she should have no part in.. and she can call and I will always come and get her without her getting in trouble.

I'm asking that you all pray for Jessica. I'm asking that you pray for a peace of mind and that God would take those images out of her little head. That she wouldn't be scared and that she'd not ever think about those things again! She's going to her dad's this weekend and I hope they are understanding of her feelings right now. I've already called Louanne and asked her to talk to Jessup... she was upset too.

Thanks guys for your prayers and support.
