Jessica's Poem
She had to write a poem tonight for school about family. Here's what she wrote...
Family is supposed to be there
Family is not supposed to walk out
Family is supposed to care
Family is not supposed to go a different route
My family is kinda like that
except my dad,
he's like an old door mat
stinky and bad
lets talk about my mom
the little ones keep her on her toes
her life is never calm
but thats just how it goes
now movin' on to Matt
he's the coolest step dad around
he's where the fun is at
he rocks out on his instruments with a cool sound
I guess that brings us to the little ones
Darcy, Jacob and Jeremiah are their names
they're the best I love them tons
they bring me good luck at my games
Family is supposed to be there
Family is not supposed to walk out
Family is supposed to care
Family is not supposed to go a different route
My family is kinda like that
except my dad,
he's like an old door mat
stinky and bad
lets talk about my mom
the little ones keep her on her toes
her life is never calm
but thats just how it goes
now movin' on to Matt
he's the coolest step dad around
he's where the fun is at
he rocks out on his instruments with a cool sound
I guess that brings us to the little ones
Darcy, Jacob and Jeremiah are their names
they're the best I love them tons
they bring me good luck at my games
a blessing in the thorn
So now that the end is in sight I can stop with all the whinning... and i'm sure you guys are ready for me to stop.
The funny thing is... I ask Matthew every week if there's a chance for overtime. So I guess when God answered my prayers for overtime I should have been thankful. Instead I didn't see it as God answering my prayer. I have not been a happy camper this week. But today it hit me. Why not THANK God for the almost 20 hours of overtime!!!!!! Instead of cursing the company I should be happy they can afford it and that they're busy instead of laying folks off like the other electrical company down the road!!!!
AND THEN... tonight I was going over his paystub (it comes in the mail on thursdays) and I was trying to see how much gross he actually had before uncle sam took his share. I noticed the hourly rate had gone up!!!!!!! He got a $1.25 RAISE!!! PTL!!!!! Matthew had no idea either. How awesome is that and what better timing to have it now with all this overtime!!!

A Momma Meltdown
sorry stack i stole your title
I called Jessica to tell her Matthew would pick her up. I could tell in her voice something was wrong but she said she couldn't talk but she'd call me back. I waited and waited. Finally she called me back. She was in tears. Here's what happened.
Her basketball Coach is out of town. One of the girls father's is coaching... the girl and Jessica are not friends (jessica's words were that the other girl hates her and talks about her). So at practice the 'Coach' seperates the girls... it ends up that Jessica was put with all the 6th graders (she's in 7th). She has to practice layups all day while the other girls (7th & 8th) are going over plays for tomorrow's game. Do I need to say more?
I told Jessica that she should have said something to him after practice like "hey btw i'm in the 7th grade" but she didn't. She's very upset b/c she knows she will not be playing in tomorrows game. She said she wants to quit... no quitters here! So I said I'd call him... of course that didn't go over well!!! She told me that she didn't need me to fix it for her but just to listen that she's not three and i can't fix it!!!!!
On top of all that drama she's had a really rough week with some girls at school talking about her. So one day in the car I told her she should call one of the girls and call her out on it. She called her on speaker phone while I stayed silent. I just wanted to hear everything. Well she basically said... why are you talking crap about me? the other girl said.... um i'm not Jessica told her she needed to keep her mouth shut and that was it. The next day the girl went to school and told everyone she'd told Jessica off! OMG!!!!!!
yes, I know girls can be mean and we all went through this and we all survived without any scars. its what makes us tough. its how we learn to let things roll off our backs. its how we learn to 'pick our battles'. its how we grow. we made it through it and so we'll she.

Darcy Bug
Darcy is now on Day THREE of NO DIAPERS!! OR SIPPY CUPS! She's actually slept without a diaper on for two nights with no accidents!!!!!!! And she's informed me that she is not my baby... that she's Darcy!
The diaper thing was kinda a desperate thing. We were running low the other day and I didn't have a chance to go to Walmart with our work schedules. The sippy cup thing just came with it. She always takes a cup to bed with her but I knew this wouldn't be a good idea with no diaper. So we made her use a cup all day and then that night we told her she'd spill it b/c it didn't have a lid and that sippy cups were only for car rides now since she was a big girl! She's done great!!!!!!
I need to buy her some more panties!!!!!!! And a stool so she can easily climb onto the toilet and also so she can wash her hands by herself. She doesn't like me helping her wash her hands but she can't reach it unless I sit her on my knee.

Hot Chocolate
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired.
During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate. When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot c hocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy your hot chocolate.

12 HOUR DAYS
My poor hubby... he just called to tell me that he's working 12 hour days this week. For the last 2 weeks he's worked 10 hour days 7 days a week and now this. I think its awful to make those guys work so many hours... its dangerous!!! They've been overworked!!! What makes it worse is the job site is a little over an hour away from us. He gets up at 3:30am to be at work 6am. He'll be getting off at 6pm... driving all the way home... eat, shower and sleep. This is crazy!!!! I told him that if he needed to rent a hotel room for the week it was fine by me. I checked around but its not really in the best part of town... The first place I called said they rented the rooms every 12 hours... 12 hours... what?
Needless to say I had to take myself off the schedule at Little Italy's for the week... they were very understanding about it.
Jessica has 3 games this week... I'll probably miss every one of them. I've only been able to go to 2 games all season.
On a positive note... maybe with all this overtime we'll be able to save up for a family vacation.

Why Lord!?!
I'm really not blaming the Lord for the things going on but rather laughing at the fact that He seems to think I can handle it! LOL
I told you already about my speeding ticket... well I haven't called yet to see how much its going to cost. My court date is Feb 8th (i think) so it has to be paid before then. I actually have 2 people 'working' on it for me... meaning they know someone that might can 'fix it' for me. We'll see.
Our oven has been giving us trouble since we moved in over a year ago. Its digital and it doesn't like to stay on. You can hear it click when its going to work but most of the time it takes 20 plus trys before it clicks. We haven't gotten it to come on in three days :( The front big eye hasn't been getting hot quickly so I think its time for a new oven/stove. Again... we'll see.
Yesterday I was about to get in the shower when I looked outside my window and noticed water on the ground. It hadn't rained!!!!! Turns out the water pipe in my barn/garage busted. There was water rushing out of the barn. Water was flooding my yard and rushing into the street. Why nobody stopped to tell me is beyond frustrating. In the midst of trying to get into the barn the spring on the garage door broke and it fell on me!!! Its a wooden door!!!! The thing was soooo freakin heavy to lift! Water was pouring out of the wall in the bathroom in the barn. I was up to my ankles in water!!!!! I saw a city truck driving down the street so I ran to the rode to stop him. He came in and turned off the water at the main thingy. I was standing there crying and was completely freaked out at the thought of what this was going to cost to fix. I asked the guy if this was my end or theirs and he very tackfully (yeah right) said "No hun, this is your problem and your gonna have a HUGE water bill this month." I wanted to take a shovel to his head but instead I just cried harder and he left.
So after all that my hubby and his dad were able to fix it. But I didn't have my water back until almost 7ish. I tried to cook super but realized I needed water for almost everything. Then I remembered I had a box of pizza rolls. Well guess what... THE OVEN WOULDN'T COME ON!!! I bout cried again. Back up... I forgot to mention the part where I was taking a shower so I could get ready for work! I ended up calling in. They understood and were very sympathetic. I ended up having to call them for a delivery! LOL
Hubby worked today and I'm about to run to the store. Hope all is well with my faithful silent readers :)

cost of copper
Matthew's an electrician... they use bulk cable for everything. There's always some left over after the job and most of the time they let Matthew bring it home. We strip it and sell it. Its very time consuming but its worth it in the end. We've gotten as much as $600 for one load. We've got a BUNCH right now that we need to strip but haven't got the time. They'll take it if its not striped but its worth half as much.

Escaped!
I was working on my payu2blog stuff when I heard a loud thump above me. Jacob has figured out how to climb out of his crib. He's done is 2x in the last week!!!! Granted by the time Darcy was 13 months she was already sleeping in a big girl bed but the boys don't seem ready for one. I guess Jacob is going to prove me wrong.
I have the bunk beds that Matthew and Michael slept in but they need some serious work. They (MICHAEL) drew all over them. I need to sand them down and paint them. I also need to buy new twin mattress for them. I guess I'll need to get busy on them soon. I'm not going to stack the beds until their older... and not even sure if I'll do it then. we'll see.

serious business
I have a friend thats in drug rehab right now. This is not his first time in either. I'm just hoping he sticks with it this time around. He needs help. I sent him a letter just before Christmas but I really need to send another one or go and visit him. He needs all the encouragement he can get while fighting his addictions.
IF I had...

... this car I would have to buy some cool Chrysler 300 accessories to go with it. These cars are sooo sharp. I only wish it could fit my family in it. LOL I guess I'll just have to wait till the kids are grown before I get me one. If you could pick any car what would it be and why?
For Sale
I love to look at real estate online. I'm not planning on moving for a really long time but I can't help but to wonder what else is out there. Does anyone else do look at houses online? I also like to look at houses in other areas just to see the difference in cost. Its amazing how much a 3 bedroom home in one state cost verses another state (or sometimes just the next city over).

So far so good
The last few days have been relaxing. We've really enjoyed seeing our kids play with their new things. The girls LOVE the trampoline and the boys are warming up to it. They mainly lay there and let the girls bounce them. The temperature has dropped drastically here. Last week at this time they were playing outside in short sleeves... today they are layered up with warm stuff. Its windy too.
I went shopping with Heather this past Sunday. I managed to spend all my christmas money but I have no regrets. I've went shopping with Jessica yesterday and today.... she spent all of her Christmas money too... and with no regrets! She's all ready for the 2nd semister. The kid is growing like a weed! She's outgrown the jeans we bought at the beginning of the year!!!!!!! They all are too short! She got some really cute stuff with her money. She even bought some perfume from Abercrombie. I don't even where perfume! LOL
Our friend Christy came over (and melody too) on Monday. Christy cut and colored mine and Jessica's hair. Yes, I said Jessica too. She got hers highlighted but she can't really see the highlights. Her hair is a lot like mine when I was her age. My hair would lighten up during the summer and during the winter the top half would be darker.... it looked like I need to do my roots but the funny thing is I'd didn't color my hair. Well Jessica has the same problem but the highlights actually lightened up the top so it looks even now. And a little lighter. Christy is coming back this weekend to do some more to Jessica's hair.... she wanted more of a dramatic change. Mine... its pretty dramatic. She put three different colors on it. I'll show you some pictures when I figure how to upload from my Kodak software thats on my computer. Any help would be appreciated ;) wink wink.
Matthew's mom bought us Scrabble so we've been playing it everynight after we put the little ones together. Our scores are getting better. The first night we played I beat Jessica and Matthew by almost 100 points! Last night matthew beat me by 20 points. Its fun.
Well I'd better go... I'm supposed to be at work in a little bit.
New Years resolutions...
Matthew and I are going to actually do the devotional together that we got last year! LOL
Diet (it wouldn't be right if it wasn't on my list)
Ease up on Jessica
Do my work out video before I take Jessica to school.
Spend more time outside with my kids instead of keeping them inside b/c I'm too lazy to go outside :)
Take a vacation with my family
